The Credential/La credencial

This is how it all starts!  In order to be an official "pilgrim," you must have a credential, kind of like a mini passport.  You get stamps along the way, and at the end of the journey in Santiago, you present your credential and you are considered a "saint!"

There are many ways to get to Santiago, and I've chosen the Ebro route, one of the less traditional ones (it follows the Ebro river from Tortosa to Logroño).  I've done this for a few reasons:  one, it starts in southern Cataluña and I want to visit some friends there beforehand; two, fewer people along the road; and three, I want to end up in Logroño in time to meet my friends for the city's wine festival!  This route covers about 230 miles/380 km and should take me about 14-15 days.  Next year, I'll finish the second half from Logroño to Santiago.  Wish me luck!

¡Esto es cómo empieza todo!  Para ser "peregrino/a" oficial, hay que tener una credencial, como un mini-pasaporte.  Obtienes sellos al largo de tu viaje, y al final del trayecto en Santiago, presentes tu credencial y ¡te consideran un/a "santo/a."!

Hay muchas rutas para llegar a Santiago, y he escogido La Ruta del Ebro, una de las menos tradicionales (sigues el río Ebro desde Tortosa a Logroño).  La he escogido por varias razones:  una, la ruta empieza en el sur de Cataluña y quiero visitar a algunos amigos allí antes de irme; dos, habrá menos gente en el camino; y tres, porque quiero terminar en Logroño a tiempo para quedar con mis amigos para ¡ir a la fiesta del vino!  Esta ruta cubre  230 millas/380 km y espero hacerla en 14-15 días.  El año que viene, terminaré la segunda mitad de Logroño a Santiago.  ¡Deseádme suerte!
